Halo Engagement Rings

A diamond halo ring makes a wonderful choice for an engagement ring. These elegant and above all sparkling settings are highly popular and complement any shape of diamond. The halo setting can be a double halo, or even triple. The diamond halo surround offers an effervescent brilliance as well as making the central stone appear larger. Halo rings can be set with diamonds or coloured gemstones, and look stunning in rose gold, yellow gold, white gold or any other precious metal.

As the name suggests, a halo setting features a glistening surround of diamonds bordering a principal stone. It is a diamond solitaire design within a surround of smaller accent diamonds. This design is romantic and highly fashionable, with many celebrities such as Sofia Vergara, Natalie Portman and Olivia Wilde opting for diamond halo rings.

Crucially, the diamond ‘halo’ makes the centre stone appear larger. The surround gives the optical illusion of a wider diameter, or spread, of the principal stone, therefore making it appear larger when viewed face up. The diamond halo adds an additional layer of brilliance to the central stone. As light hits the ring at different angles and directions, each of the surrounding stones shine back with a fire and brilliance that complements and enhances the central stone.

Diamond halo settings look truly stunning and work well with all shapes of diamonds. Round brilliant cut diamonds are typically the most popular design, but shapes such as the pear, oval, marquise, emerald, Asscher or princess cut all look equally as stunning within a halo surround. The halo surround can be either round, in a classic and elegant design, or geometric, which adds an element of Art Deco glamour to the ring’s design.

When choosing a diamond halo ring, consider how large you want the overall ring to appear when worn. If you have an idea of the size of diamond you desire, consider how much larger a halo surround would make it appear. In this case, you can afford to size down your principal stone, which could be a cost effective strategy! We would also recommend that you have the ring checked at one of our jewellery boutiques yearly, to ensure that all the stones within the halo setting are present and secure. With the addition of multiple smaller diamonds, it is crucial to check all of the settings and monitor the wear and tear of the ring to ensure it retains its brilliance for years to come.
